Ok so saying the fair was fun was maybe an overstatement. On firday we were in Salt Lake and we had a friends birthday dinner to go to that night. So instead of driving back to Layton then back to Salt Lake that night we decided to check out the State fair. I was somewhat excited for the fair because I havn't been since I was like 9 years old. I remember as a little boy loving the fair. Riding all the carnival rides, having some good food, and buying cool toys. As and adult I quickly realized that its not as fun as it was as a kid. It just seemed like there wasn't much to do. The stuff that was being sold was crap, the carnival rides were way expensive, and the animals smelled (I guess they always do). I did enjoy smelling the food though. There was so much food there that I wanted to try but it was so overpriced. Also since we were going to dinner afterwards food probably wouldn't be that good of an idea. I also enjoyed looking at the photos submitted in the photography contest. Something i'm sure I wouldn't have hated as a kid. In all we were only at the fair for just over an hour. We got a frozen lemonaid and that was it. If we go back for next years fair i'm only going for the food. As there was many things I wanted to try but didn't. I also look forward to taking my own kids to the fair someday. Maybe seeing that same excitement in them that I had as a kid will make me enjoy the fair again. After the fair we headed to the Gateway where we would be meeting everyone for my friends birthday dinner. Thats where the picture above came from.
